September 3rd Bug-Fixing Build

Hello! There was one critical game-breaking bug in the previous build, so I’ve uploaded a new build where the issue is fixed. This build contains more than that just one fix, though.

To see a list of everything that changed in the latest build, scroll down past this absolutely adorable set of Amai illustrations by inconsistentvega!

September 3rd Bug-Fixing Build

Improvements

  • If the player commits murder in front of a Coward student and then speaks to that student on any subsequent day, that student will speak a “terrified of the player” line of dialogue. However, if the player tried to talk to the Coward again after this, the Coward would begin reciting the lines of Sleuth students who are angry with the player and hold a grudge against the player. This angry dialogue has been replaced with new fearful dialogue that feels much more appropriate for a Coward that is afraid of a killer.
  • It is no longer possible to hold a student in one spot indefinitely by repeatedly asking them for a Task and repeatedly rejecting the Task. From now on, students will get offended if you reject their Task twice, and will refuse to talk to you about it until after the phase of the day has changed (Classtime/Lunchtime/Cleaning Time, etc).
  • Previously, the player was able to hear the sound of a musician playing an instrument even if that musician was on the floor above/below the player. This is no longer the case; the player will now only hear a musician playing an instrument if that musician is on the same floor as the player.
  • Previously, Meka’s hair did not have physics, so it would clip into her body when she was running. Her hair has been updated with physics.
  • It is now possible to start your Custom Mode playthrough by entering the Week Select screen and choosing a specific week to start on.
  • Updated all student portraits for students whose portraits no longer reflected their in-game appearance.
  • Updated Sakura’s eye texture.

Fixes

  • Using the Week Select screen to set a rival’s death as a murder-suicide would result in the text “the killer was never found” (or something like that). This was an oversight. Obviously, the killer was found, but only after they were dead. From now on, that text will read “the police cannot take action” since it’s a more accurate description of the situation.
  • If a student council member spotted Ryoba rummaging around in the desk of the Student Council room, they wouldn’t take any sort of action against her. This bug has been fixed; the player will now be sent to the guidance counselor if they’re caught doing that.
  • If the player spoke to Sho while he was in his “sparring in the martial arts club” spot, the “Um, excuse me, you’re in the way…” text would appear onscreen instead of his task-related text. This bug has been fixed.
  • When the protagonist initiated the “cooking octodogs” animation, a sausage and an octodog would appear in her hands, before she had even opened the refrigerator door. This bug has been fixed.
  • When the player entered a bathroom and toggled the lights on/off, the room would become darker, but certain elements of the HUD/GUI would also become darker. This bug has been fixed.
  • Due to a bug, it was impossible to speak to any 1980s Mode rival about their Befriend/Betray problem, making the B/B elimination method impossible. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player befriended Amai and then walked past her while she was carrying plates of food, she would wave hello even though her hands were full. This bug has been fixed.
  • Sometimes, if the player started a new save file, certain clubs would already be closed, even though they had no reason to be clubbed. This bug has been fixed.
  • Under specific circumstances, a character’s arms would become permanently locked to their sides after they waved hello to the player. This bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the Photography Club leader to become unable to pathfind properly inside of the Photography Clubroom.
  • Upon entering first-person mode, a lot of knee-high objects became “climbable.” This should no longer be possible.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Nemesis to spawn with picnic items in her hands and a flower in her hair.
  • Fixed bug that caused a black line to appear on Sakura’s hair model.
  • Fixed typos in 1980s Mode student profiles.
