December 15th Update

Hello! Got a pretty big update for you today! Lots of additions to Custom Mode, and also the addition of a feature that people have been begging me to add to the game for years.

To read a list of everything that was added / changed / fixed / improved in the latest update, please scroll down past this absolutely gorgeous illustration by 蛋蛋在水上漂!

December 15th Update

Actually, this artwork is part of a music video that you can find on the Chinese video-sharing site BiliBili. Click here to see the video: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1wfyYYUEkv/ It’s a Yandere Simulator version of a pre-existing video, and I think it’s absolutely phenomenal!

Kidnapping Male Students

Throughout Yandere Simulator’s development, I’ve been asked countless times if it would ever be possible for the protagonist to kidnap male students. For years, I have consistently given the same reply: “No!! I don’t see any reason to do that!! It wouldn’t serve any gameplay purpose!! It would be pointless! I’m never going to add it to the game!!”

Well…

In Custom Mode, it is possible to assign “canon eliminations” to your rivals. But, what if you design a male rival, and then designate “kidnapping” as his canon elimination? Suddenly, it becomes impossible to perform a canon playthrough…

So…

December 15th Update

Yeah…I did it. I said “I’m never going to add that feature to the game!!” for years, and then I went ahead and did it anyway. It is now possible to kidnap male students.

(Hmm…for some reason, this blog post is giving me deja vu…I wonder how many other “I’m never going to add that feature to the game, stop asking me!!!” features will eventually get added to the game…)

Please be aware that, if you kidnap a male, he will spawn in your basement wearing his school uniform, regardless of whatever clothing he was wearing at the point in time when he was kidnapped. This is because I don’t have a “burlap sack” model for male students to wear at this point in time.

Also, if you kidnap a male student, you will hear female voice lines when he is being tranquilized, when he is being tortured, and when he is performing a murder-suicide. I don’t have male equivalents of those lines at this point in time.

One last note – if you examine a male student who is tied to a chair, you will notice that the ropes sometimes clip through his body. I don’t have male equivalents of the rope models at this point in time.

Custom Mode

I’ve begun going down the checklist of all the additions/changes/improvements that I want to make to Custom Mode! Here’s the progress that I’ve made so far:

It is now possible for the player to give the game original textures to use for students’ uniforms in Custom Mode. You are no longer limited to the game’s 6 school uniforms!

December 15th Update

It is now possible to provide the game with up to 10 “Custom Stocking Textures” and assign these textures to your protagonist and/or female students!

December 15th Update

It is now possible to customize the skin colors of female students!

December 15th Update

It is now possible to choose the pose that a student performs in their student portrait!

December 15th Update

It is now possible to customize the texture of your rivals’ bookbags!

December 15th Update

Also…

  • Now that it’s possible to kidnap male students, “Kidnap” and “Murder-Suicide” are now valid canon elimination methods for male rivals!
  • It is now possible to edit the names and profiles of the Guidance Counselor, Headmaster, and Journalist!
  • It is now possible to customize the text that appears inside of all rival’s diary entries!
  • It is now possible to assign eye types to male students!

To customize textures or text, just replace the images or text files found in the StreamingAssetsCustomMode directory.

By the way…I’ll be the first to admit that the current male eye types don’t look very good. I hope to expand the list of male eye types in the future with better-looking expressions, but I’ll need help from people who know how to anime/pose Yandere Sim characters and provide .FBX or .anim files.

If the player decides to not write custom diary entries for their Custom Mode rivals, then the diary will automatically populate with the rival’s likes/dislikes, and will color-code their likes as green and their dislikes as red.

Blood Censor Update

In this build, the “Censor Blood” feature got a lot of improvements.

  • Previously, if the player activated the “Censor Blood” feature and then stabbed a student, part of the blood effect would be replaced with flowers, but other parts would remain red and bloody. The “Censor Blood” feature will now completely hide all parts of the “stab blood effect” with flowers.
  • Previously, if the player activated the “Censor Blood” feature and then splashed a bucket of blood onto a student, they would appear bloody. This has been corrected; they now appear to be covered in flowers, instead.
  • If the player used the syringe as a murder weapon, blood would appear on it even if the Censor Blood option was active. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously, when dismembering a student after activating the “Censor Blood” feature, blood would appear as black squares instead of as flowers. The blood has been updated to appear as flowers.
  • Previously, the “Censor Blood” feature didn’t apply to the iron maiden in the Foreign Studies room. Now it does.
  • Previously, the “Censor Blood” feature didn’t apply to the woodchipper in the Gardening Club. Now it does.
  • Previously, the “Censor Blood” feature did not affect the appearance of blood in a bucket. Now it does.

Improvements

  • When socializing with a student, the player is supposed to get bonus social points when they use the same Persona or “animation set” as the student that they’re talking to. Sonoko uses the animations from the “Strict” animation set. So, using the “Strict” Persona will now give you bonus social points when interacting with Sonoko.
  • In the “Alternate Timeline,” it was a little too harsh to have your entire save file deleted for messing up, so the player will now be “sent back in time to last Sunday” instead of having their entire “timeline” erased.
  • Updated the text for Ryoba’s “Expel” Idea, since Himeko’s rings are no longer the only way to frame a rival for theft.
  • Several 1980s Mode students who lacked unique portrait poses are now using unique poses in their portraits.
  • Updated a few of the graphics that accompany the tutorials accessed from the Pause Menu.

Fixes

  • In 202X, if the player shows a bully’s decapitated head to a delinquent, they react positively and then leave school. This makes sense for the 202X delinquents because of their backstories. However, 1980s Mode male delinquents were also showing the same reaction to the decapitated heads of female delinquents, which was not intended. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player befriended a student and then kidnapped that student, the player’s friend count would go up to 1 and then down to 0. But if the player turned that kidnapped student into a mind-broken slave and then ordered them to commit a murder-suicide, the player’s friend count would go down to -1. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player entered a struggle with a teacher while the police countdown was displaying, and the player was required to take a weapon out of their inventory in order to struggle with the teacher, the police countdown timer would permanently stop counting down. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if a teacher with the “Dangerous” Persona witnessed the player fighting with a delinquent, she would run up to the two characters as if she was going to stop the fight, but wouldn’t actually perform any sort of relevant animation. This bug has been fixed.
  • For debug purposes, I made it so that pressing “S” with the debug menu open would give the player Sakyu Basu’s ring. This resulted in players getting expelled from school, since they were unaware that the “S” key had that effect. The “S” key will no longer do this.
  • If the player started a Mission Mode mission involving Nemesis being disguised as a student, and then got sent to the guidance counselor, the replaced student would re-spawn, meaning that there would be two identical students at school. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player assigned the “Sew” action to a female student, they would fail to perform the action. This bug has been fixed…although you may have difficulty perfectly lining them up with a chair in the Sewing Room.
  • The instructions for Osana’s “Befriend/Betray” Scheme now specify that the player has to raise their reputation to at least +10 before Osana will be willing to listen to Ayano tell her about a note in her locker.
  • If the player saved the game after Osana finished her Friday “make a mixtape for Senpai” event and then loaded the save, all of Osana’s Friday events would repeat from the beginning. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player used the color-picker to make a student’s eyes solid black, the game would ignore the player’s instructions and give the student grey eyes instead. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the Multi Mission screen of Mission Mode, the red highlight rectangle was appearing behind the objects it was meant to be highlighting, instead of in front of them. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player attempted to play the game using a Sony controller connected to their computer by Bluetooth, the game would not update button prompts accordingly. This bug should now be fixed.
  • During Ai’s week in 1980s Mode, when the player plugged a power strip into the musical equipment on the gym stage, the strip would change color from white to black. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player killed a rival using the Iron Maiden – and then disposed of the rival’s corpse – the game would not give the player the “Iron Maiden” achievement. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used Custom Mode to create a protagonist who used Ayano’s original hairstyle from 2014, her hair physics would be weird and janky when at home. This bug has been fixed.
  • Missing posters will no longer appear for adult characters (nurse, coach, teachers) who go missing. This functionality was only meant to apply to students, not the adult characters.
  • In Mission Mode, Amai’s “absent student attending remotely” laptop was present at school, even though Amai is present at school in Mission Mode. This oversight has been corrected.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player tried to change the color of protagonist hairstyle #3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 77, or 207, the hair color wouldn’t update properly. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player assigned a student the “Locker Room” destination, they would always go to the male locker room, even if they were female. This bug has been fixed.
  • If a student council member was sitting and reading, and then shoved the player, they would not return to their “sitting and reading” animation. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player angled the camera in a specific way while standing in a specific spot in the Computer Lab, part of one wall would stop rendering. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player activated the “Alternate Timeline,” it became possible to use glass shards to craft a weapon, breaking the flow of the tutorial. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player lost the struggle with the stalker in Osana’s stealth mission, the “lost struggle” animation would not actually play. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player interrupted Osana and Musume’s Friday event, Osana would not be able to transition into her next event properly. This bug has been fixed.
  • Some of the 1980s Mode rival hair models were not appearing correctly in Ryoba’s “low sanity hallucinations.” This bug has been fixed.
  • The “Seductive” eye type was not working properly, and was causing characters’ irises to shrink in size. This bug has been fixed.
  • It is no longer possible to talk to students while the “you’ve gone too far away from the school” red static effect is onscreen.
  • When the player disabled outlines, the outlines around Dafuni’s hairband would not disappear. This bug has been fixed.
  • Two of the boys in the 1989 Occult Club were using the same hair model. Oops!! This bug has been fixed.
  • In 1989, the bloomers inside of Ryoba’s locker were the wrong color. This oversight has been corrected.
  • Sometimes, in Custom Mode, all characters’ eyes would appear grey by default. This bug has been fixed.
  • Some of the new eye types were not functioning on the protagonist; this bug has been fixed.
  • Jokichi wasn’t using the right pose in the Senpai Shrine photo. This bug has been fixed.
  • Updated one incorrect birth year in the 1980s Mode “True Ending Timeline” sequence.
  • Fixed a typo in the subtitles for Gema’s Task.
  • Fixed typos in the subtitles for Saki’s Task.

One last thing…

In 2014, I released a simple browser game called Yandere Clicker:

December 15th Update

It was created using the “United WebGL Player” which is no longer supported by most browsers. As a result, most people can’t play this game anymore.

So, I’ve decided to re-release it as a standalone .exe that you can run on your computer:

https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/tg7mswcpc8kknpq/YandereClicker.zip/file

I’m not actually sure how many people out there are dying to play Yandere Clicker, but I know that this made at least *one* fan very happy, so I’ve decided to share it with everyone else, as well. Enjoy!
