Oops – the previous build might have fixed many bugs, but it also introduced a couple of new issues! Sorry about that! Here’s a new build with many more improvements and fixes.
To see a list of everything that changed in the latest build – and a short but important message – please scroll down past this adorable New Years’ artwork by Tangsen_Malum!
(Don’t worry, that’s the last New Years’ artwork I wanted to share!)
Please read before updating!
Whenever you update to a new build, the game won’t be aware of anything you created in Custom Mode in any previous build of the game! If there is anything you’ve created using Custom Mode that you want to retain access to, you need to back up the following files from your current build of the game:
- YandereSimulatorAssetsStreamingAssetsCustomMode (the entire directory)
- YandereSimulatorAssetsStreamingAssetsPortraitsCustom (the entire directory)
- YandereSimulatorAssetsStreamingAssetsJSONCustom.json
- YandereSimulatorAssetsStreamingAssetsJSONCustomTopics.json
- YandereSimulatorAssetsStreamingAssetsJSONMisc.json
…and then drag-and-drop those files into the new build once you download it.
This will always be true of every build! It’s true of your save data, too! Always remember this, so that you never lose any Custom Mode data or save data that is important to you!
Improvements
- If the player changes Senpai’s routine in Custom Mode from its default state, then he can’t perform the “put bento on desk” action that he’s supposed to perform in order for the player to be able to sabotage his bento. From now on, no matter what routine the player gives to Senpai at the beginning of Custom Mode, he will always perform the “put bento on desk” action before he moves on to the rest of the routine that the player assigned him.
- Updating the game to support “player-designed custom protagonist appearance” in all scenes would be a tremendous amount of work, so in certain scenes, the player will now obscure their appearance with a disguise, based off of a cliche disguise that is commonly seen in anime and Japanese media. These scenes are the town scene and the asylum scene.
- I recognize that some players may spend a lot of time in the Custom Mode menu, and might eventually get sick of the background music. So, I’ve decided to add the ability to swap out the music that plays at that screen. While you’re in any Custom Mode menu, tap the “M” key anytime to swap between two different tracks.
- Students are now willing to follow you in Mission Mode at low school atmosphere (otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to complete missions requiring the use of the Iron Maiden).
- The vat of acid is now always available in Mission Mode, instead of only being available when you’re a member of the Science Club.
- It is now possible to spin the postcard and dial numbers on the rotary phone using the arrow keys instead of the WASD keys.
- There are no longer any restrictions to the “Pass Time Studying” feature when you’re playing in Mission Mode.
- The “Evil Photographer” topic is now available in Mission Mode and works on all rivals.
Fixes
- If the player entered the 1980s Mode “Alternate Timeline” and then walked around the exterior of the school, they could find objects from 202X (such as Ryuto’s bandana). Although it would be fair to explain this as a result of screwing with the space-time continuum, it was a bug and it has been fixed.
- If the player played through the entire game and reached the confession scene, no text would display onscreen to explain what was happening. I’m so sorry! This bug has been fixed.
- Giving Senpai the “arms crossed” idle pose would result in him receiving the delinquent walk animation. This was unintended, and has been fixed.
- If the player completed Custom Mode and then loaded their save file, they would load into the 1980s Mode ending. This bug has been fixed.
- Certain students would attempt to sit in the same chairs as other students in 1980s Mode on Week 4 on Friday. This bug has been fixed.
- Fixed bug that was preventing players from being able to sabotage the Thursday “sedate rival so she oversleeps” event in Custom Mode.
- A bug made it possible to purchase unavailable ramen for Dreams that have not yet been added to the game. This bug has been fixed.
- Fixed bug that prevented the player from changing between “Negative Remark” and “Positive Remark” when gossiping about a student.
- Fixed bug that cause the wrong hair color to appear on Senpai in the intro cutscene and “Kokona asks Ayano for help” cutscene.
- Fixed bug that caused Senpai’s eyes to have no texture in the intro cutscene and “Kokona asks Ayano for help” cutscene.
- Fixed bug that would cause Ayano to appear bald (and wearing the wrong school uniform) when in town.
- Removed bush that was clipping into the headmaster’s statue.
