If the Journalist appears in an ending after the ten-week period, it means that he is skilled enough to escape Ryoba's pursuit. Interestingly, it is revealed in the 9th Mysterious Tape that Ryoba has never moved out of her hometown for over three decades. When the Journalist catches a glimpse of Ryoba, he becomes enraged, but still runs away from her if she discovers his stalking activities after all these years.
In a court case that tarnished his reputation, the Journalist's career as a journalist ended. He wanted to avoid having a child with a father who was a national disgrace, so he waited over a decade to have one, hoping that the stigma would fade by the time his child grew up. However, the Journalist's anger and hate, which he had kept buried for decades, resurfaced after the experience.
