The gameplay in Yandere Simulator is fast-paced and does not allow for turtling, as the player's reputation among the different factions can quickly turn sour. This can lead to unexpected attacks on the player's base by various factions like Kweebecs, Trorks, and more. In an interesting twist, a mysterious character, a boy with green hair and a green leather jacket, suddenly appears in YandereDev's game view and kills the rival he was testing, resulting in a glitchy and bloody mess. YandereDev advises against asking the green-haired boy for help, considering he has already killed the player before. However, when the player manages to strike a killing blow on Varyn, he explodes into void particles and reforms after 2 in-game days, requiring the player to fight him again at full health. The player can then decide whether to inflict the final blow on Varyn or not with the guidance of Midori.
One of the standout features of Yandere Simulator is the ability to use various strategies to eliminate the other girls. Ayano can visit a location to change her uniform and clean the blood off herself. The player takes control and eliminates the other students so that Senpai can learn to use the Yandere simulator mobile. Midori mentions that someone named LunaticTactician was kind enough to bring her back to the player. It's important to take the necessary time to complete tasks within the given time frame.
Ayano firmly believes that violence is the only solution to her problems, which adds balance to Midori's meta information. It forces the player to rely more on guerrilla tactics rather than powerful equipment and henchmen. YandereDev expresses gratitude for making his life easier and shows curiosity about who LunaticTactician is. Yandere Simulator offers an intriguing mix of high school life simulation and gruesome, Hitman-esque sequences where the player disposes of anyone who competes for their senpai's attention through a variety of violent acts, including manipulation and murder.
Once captured, the player can interrogate Varyn and intimidate him into reopening the portals to Akademi High School and YandereDev's home. The player assumes the role of Ayano Aishi, also known as Yandere-chan, an apathetic Japanese high school girl who has developed a crush on her fellow student Taro Yamada, or “Senpai.” It's worth noting that the game only includes weapons that a student could reasonably find in a school setting.
If the player repeatedly attacks Varyn with headshots or armor-slaying weapons, it temporarily disables his ability to silence the player. YandereDev jokingly mentions that he also has a bone to pick with Varyn and advises that it's easier to stab someone in the abdomen since it's softer and has less bone protection compared to the head, which is protected by the skull. Midori joyfully announces her return to YandereDev, who then goes through the portal in search of LunaticTactician.
